REHABILITATIVE GLOVE

Today I will introduce rehabilitative glove invented by Matsusita Group. The glove’s aim is the speedup of one side paralysis’s rehabilitation.

The mechanism is  simple. Patients need to wear two gloves. The one is for healthy hand, and the other is for unhealthy hand. When patients move their healthy hand, unhealthy hand does same movement by many sensors put on the gloves. By this way, the globe makes unhealthy hand learn muscular movement. Amazingly there is no time lag. In addition, when patient move the glove, the top of fingers light. By the lighting, patient can recognize which finger will move.

Matsusita Group is making efforts to save the glove’ s weight and size. Because present model is not suitable for ordinary houses. If this glove become common, more patients can rehabilitate without other people’s hand in their houses.

0179-Wheelchair–2

Do you know a wheelchair?

I think that you will say Of course.

Do you know who invented a wheelchair for the first time?

Answer is Jennings and Herbert.

They made a wheelchair for their disabled friend in 1933.

Since then it is necessary for people who cannot walk to use a wheelchair.

Wheelchair is used all over the world.

Now wheelchair is developing for example electric-powered wheelchair and sport

wheelchair.

Electric-powered wheelchair is used by people who don’t have power very much

There are a lot of tournaments for people who use sport wheelchair for example

Basketball and football and rugby and tennis.

In Japan, many people participate in such tournament.

I think you know, Singo Kunieda is a champion of wheelchair tennis.

Even if wheelchair is developed, it is important for us to help disabled people.

I hope that all people are living happily.

0180 For weak eyed people

2010 年 5 月 11 日 火曜日

I introduce a video magnifier and a screen reader. These are assistive technological devices for weak eyed people.

These devices project small words in newspaper and magazine on a monitor, and read out those words.

Moreover , these devices read out the Alphabet when people type keyboard.

These devices can allow weak eyed people to read and write email and surf the internet

0168-Screen Magnification Software 2

2010 年 5 月 10 日 月曜日

I introduce a magnifier in Microsoft Windows. The magnifier is for slight visual impaireds to use computers comfortably. This software has two functions. First, it magnifies display around a mouse cursor or follow text editing. Prior to Windows Vista, we can set the magnifying power to nine times, Windows Vista and later version, we can set it to sixteen times. Second, the tool has a “high contrast” function. The function inverts colors of the text and the background, and it helps “low visions” to see clearly.

Runba is auto cleaner. If you turned on the switch, Runba would move and clean your room. It takes Runba about forty minutes to clean your room. User says “I don’t have to do anything. Instead of me, Runba clean my room.” However, Runba has only weak point. unba is little noisy. When Runba is cleaning, you can’t use telephone. But, if you have Runba clean the next room and close the next door, you are hardly annoyed. Also, if your room has a carpet, NO PROBLEM. Runba is very smart and helps you to clean easily.

0158-The prosthetic

2010 年 5 月 10 日 月曜日

The prosthetic limb is an alternative something installed to supplement the hand and the foot cut by the accident, the sickness, and the war, etc.

It is used to recover the function of the injured leg and the appearance.

Recently, a stripe electrometry and the microcomputer are used, and the myoelectric upper limb prosthesis that allow the people to grip or take something off like an actual hand, on the power of the motor is developed and actually used.

I think that more high performance these have, more easily it becomes for the people who have the handicap to live everywhere.
