4304 Sale of the Artificial Organ

2015 年 6 月 17 日 水曜日

Artificial organ is an artificial device that replaces the part of the body which was lost by accident or disease.

It is thought that the oldest artificial organ is an artificial thumb discovered in Egypt. The artificial organ embedded in the interior of the body was developed after World War 2. The embedding type apparatus of a blood vessel and an artificial joint was produced by using synthetic resin and metal in 1950 ‘s. But such as the function of the artificial internal organ was damaged by an alien substance reaction. Therefore there was a problem for long-term use. Later, the excellent material was born in biocompatibility with development of materials engineering.

In modern medicine, we cannot ignore the role of the organ transplantation, but, there is a fact that the number of donors is short. Under such conditions , the development of the artificial organ is pushed forward for the patient who cannot be save only by organ transplantation

Grab bars are smooth, cylindrical bars that are mounted onto walls of a bathroom. Grab bars provide the extra leverage, balance, and support to get up from the toilet, getting in and out of the tub or shower, or simply to move from one place to another. They are useful tools in the shower for anyone with trouble standing, or positioning their bodies.they reduce the strain on the hips and knees.Installing grab bars in a home bathroom will help elderly homeowners to live independently, giving the option of staying in their own home instead of moving to assisted living communities.

4322 A Wheel Chair For Us

2015 年 6 月 10 日 水曜日

Let me introduce a wheelchair.     The device comes in variation allowing either manual propulsion by the rider turning the rear wheels by hand, or electric propulsion by motors.      There are often handles behind the seat to allow another person to push.     Wheelchairs are used by people with illness or disability.         When I received the operation of the cecum,         I couldn’t walk by myself and suffered.  So I used a wheelchair.     I was able to move thanks to it.    Mr. Akahoshi, who was a professional baseball player , contributed a wheelchair per one steal he made in the games.   A wheelchair is the device that helps many people who can’t walk.

4305-A Wheelchair without a Hand Use

Let me explain special features for this special wheelchair.
When we chew, our temple in our face move. How can you operate this wheelchair? A belt on the head detects the movement of the temple. Handicapped persons can operate without hand manual but chewing the back teeth. For example they turn to the right when they chew a right back teeth.
I want the handicapped persons to use this wheelchair.
Frist of all, it is for those who cannot use hands due to a lack of muscular strength.
Secondly, it is for those who for shopping in the neighborhood.
Thirdly, it is for a caregiver to control a wheelchair in assisting the riders.

4298-The Shoes for Physically Handicapped Person

2015 年 6 月 10 日 水曜日

Do you have some friends who have physically handicaps? I have a friend who do not move legs well. We have been close friends ever since childhood. I often tried to help him. At that time, I discovered an assistive technology for a handicapped person in his shoes.
The shoes have two features. At first, the shoes use magic tapes to fit user’s legs and to ease them to put on. This technology is a consideration for users. Next, the second feature is that the shoes have irregularly shapes than ours. Plus, the shoes are very hard. These outside characteristics are technologies for user to defend from some accidents. Such technical shoes are made by order-made.
Physically handicapped person live hard time, so I want to develop the assistive technology for many handicapped persons.

Assistive Technology I found is HAL, it’s a convenience robot suit. In short, this is support robot for the aged and the handicapped.

The paradigm of HAL’s user is as follows:

Philippe von Gliszynski should prepare himself for a wheelchair-bound life. He participated the clinical test for functional improvement with HAL® in February, 2012. At that time, it took 72 seconds for him to walk 10m with a walker but, in June, his symptom was so improved that it took only 26 seconds.

So, I think more and more robot suit HAL plays an active part in the various sites, such as motion assistance in the welfare field, for heavy work in factories and for rescue activities on disaster sites in the future.

4311 External Eyes Input Device

2015 年 6 月 10 日 水曜日

Recently, many people have some handicaps. Some people can’t walk nor see. How can we help the seeing or hearing impairment to carry out communication?
Let me introduce an input function. The handicapped or sick people communicate using a special board with eyes and slight control. When a disease progress, and almost none of the body moves, it is impossible for the handicapped to convey their intention or feelings.
One of the assisted technology is a special keypad for those with heavy disability. It is an External eyes input device, called Toby PC Eyes. It enables the handicapped to control the mouse and keypad input by eyes.

Do you think that it’s natural to use the keyboards? I was using the keyboards to write this speech. Can a person with an obstacle use a keyboards? Today, let me introduce assistive technology for computer keyboards.

The keyboards and mice designed by Chester Creek help on people of all ages and disabilities. Key are separated by colors every row and the position of the letters are easy to find, the letters of the keyboards are big. People with vision and dexterity issues can achieve greater independence with such increased accessibility to use computers.

AAC is the means and tools of the assistive technology and shortened from of the Augmentative and Alternative Communication. AAC is designed to help people with hearing disabilities or anyone who finds it difficult to communicate with words. AAC can help to express their thoughts, needs, wants and ideas.

E-Tran Flame is one of the AACs. E-Tran stands for Eye Transfer. It is a special communication board designed for eye movement. How easy it is to use. A communication partner faces the users and holds the frame in front of his or her. The user gazes at the letter they want to say. The communication partner confirms each letter. In this way, it helps the people to communicate easily and effectively with each other.

Do you recall when you hear“Assistive Technology”?

I recall a convenience robot suit: HAL. HAL which is made by Mr. Sankai, the professor of University of Tsukuba, is the world‘s first cyborg-type robot, which can be improved, supported and enhanced a wearer‘s bodily functions.

Wearing HAL leads to a fusion of “man”, “machine” and “information”. HAL assists a physically challenged person to move and enables him or her to exert bigger motor energy than usual. HAL is also considered as the system that accelerates a motor learning of cerebral nerves.

Application of HAL is advancing into various fields, such as motion assistance in the welfare field, assistance for heavy work in factories and assistance for rescue activities on disaster sites.
