Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) is known as Medical Emergency Response System. It lets you call for help in an emergency by pushing a button. A PERS has three components. The first is a small radio transmitter. The second is a console connected to your telephone. And the third is an emergency response center that monitors calls. Transmitters are light-weight, battery-powered devices. You can wear one around your neck, on a wrist band, on a belt, or carry one in your pocket. When you need help, you press the transmitter’s help button, which sends a signal to the console. The console automatically dials one or more emergency telephone numbers. Most PERS are programmed to telephone an emergency response center.

4209-Flexible Assistive Technology

Let me introduce a special thing. It has a big board for people those who have challenges in using an ordinary keyboard. The name is Flexi Board. We can make sheets depend on their purpose, and put them on the board. It has many flexible points.

Well, what points are flexible? First, we can change the size of keys. Second, we can use pictures for messages. Third, they are seven grades pressure-sensitive. Fourth, they can adjust the time for typing. Last, if we use Braille or something solid, blind people can use this.

In short, Flexi Board is very flexible! Do you think so? That is why I recommend many people to use this.

There are many tools which help blind people. One of them is braille. In recent years, Brailles is being used more often than before in many public places.  they are used not only in elevators ,but ticket machines in our neighborhoods.  Brailles are printed by special machines and typewriters for signs and machines to help the blind to read the messages.

Historically, braille was invented by Louis Braille in 1825.  In Japan Ishikawa Kuraji adapted in order to use Japanese six letters braille designed in France and established the foundation of Japanese braille.

Japanese braille does not distinguish Hiragana between Katakana. Niethr does it use express Kanji.  Therefore if we learn one kind of kana character , Arabic figures numerals and the alphabet , we can read newspaper , magazines and general books.

Let me introduce one of the assisted technology for a blind person. It’s called “entrance sound system for physically challenged person” . The train doors which open or close suddenly are dangerous for a blind person. This product announces the door status to passengers near the train doors with sound or chime, when train doors open or close. So, a blind person can grasp when the door is open or close. Not only they have never ride past, but also it prevent collisions with other passengers. And, we can select the sound from pre-installed four patterns.
